What it does well: It tells me the location of items on my shopping list. This is invaluable in the warehouse section where there’s no rhyme or reason and you’d better know your bin number.
- It’s super easy to add any item to your shopping list.
Frustrating:
-There’s no map of the store!
- It has a handy scanner, but my store has no bar codes on the display items; nothing to scan.
- It was wrong about what items were in stock.
- When I find an item on my shopping list I have to click over to the item description to mark it done. It’s a shopping list, it should have a little check box right on the list page. Also “collected” isn’t the most intuitive word for checking an item off your list.
- From within the shopping list there’s no way to find related items like the extension that goes with the desk. You have to back out of the shopping list and go to a search function. Especially frustrating when you’re standing in front of the desk bin and know that the extension has to be around here somewhere!
What it really ought to do if it wants to impress me: figure out which couch I’m sitting on and pop up a little banner asking if I want more information about the couch. Because I do, oh I do!

Some people don’t know how to read
To the people who are giving this app 3 stars or lower because “Oh, it’s meant for shopping in store, Oh, what does collect mean?” Please. Please for the first and last time, read the description!
It is super easy to notice that it is for shopping in store. To everyone asking what does collect mean: This app is an in store app, right? Yes. It’s like a shopping list of everything that’s available in your local ikea. Once you view an item you might want to purchase, it tells you if it’s available in your ikea. Once you have all the available items you want on your list, go to ikea! (Pretty simple, right?) once you have a physical item in your physical cart, press collect! That means you have collected the item and it is in your hands. It’s like your going shopping with a list, and once you get something like bananas, you cross bananas off the list! The app crosses it off for you once you press collect. You’re welcome!

Some of y’all are dumb.
Okay first, if you’re complaint is that the app only works for shopping in-store and not online, TRY READING THE APP NAME AND DESCRIPTION. it’s pretty clear about what it does... it clearly states it makes IN STORE shopping easier.
Second, if you’re complaining about having to still wander aimlessly thru the store to get your items- that’s not the fault of the app, either your store location doesn’t have a shortcut to the marketplace (which every one I’ve ever been to... several across 3 states) has had, or you’re new to Ikea and don’t know how to take the shortcut. Also NOT the app’s fault. Plus, walking through the store and looking at everything is part of the fun. Who goes to Ikea to just be in an out? Not me! It’s always a fun day trip for our family.
